Kim Brown<3
My aunt and uncle live full time in Koosharem in a quonset hut that they built. They moved full time in August of 2023 and from what I have heard, they love it! I
t is very different from the lifestyle they had before in St. George, but my Aunt Kim said that she has grown to love it. I was able to interview her and talk to her about her day to day life.
Here is how our conversation went:
Ruby: Living in Koosharem sounds so unique and special. Can you tell me what it’s like to live there?
Kim: Living in Koosharem is unlike anywhere I’ve ever lived. Most of the people who live here have been here for generations. They talk about this blessed valley in almost a reverent tone.
Ruby: That sounds like such a peaceful and connected community. What’s daily life like in Koosharem?
Kim: It is a slow, quiet, and peaceful existence here. I was worried when we moved here full-time that we would lose that peaceful retreat feeling—but we haven’t. Sometimes when I’m outside, the only sounds I can hear are from nature.
Ruby: Wow, that sounds idyllic! What’s it like interacting with neighbors or the community?
Kim: I only see people when I’m either over at the merc getting my mail or at church. The community is small, but it’s warm and welcoming.
Ruby: How do you manage day-to-day essentials, like groceries or other supplies?
Kim: We go into town, Richfield, about once a week for groceries. We’ve also started keeping chickens, so now we have fresh eggs at home.
Ruby: That’s amazing! Would you say it’s been a good transition overall?
Kim: Absolutely. It is a good life! It’s simple, peaceful, and deeply rewarding.
Ruby: Thank you for sharing your experience. It really paints a beautiful picture of life in Koosharem.
