Lifestyle
The town of Koosharem consists of one convenience store, the fire department, and an LDS church. So the day to day life in Koosharem is different you could say. With a population of roughly 300 people, the town is quiet and sleepy. The Grass Valley Mercantile is the heart of the town, this is where many people get their only social interactions. They have all you need in The Merc. It is the grocery store, gas station, farm supply, and post office.
Living in Koosharem requires a love for rural life, self-reliance, and a strong sense of community. With its slower pace and connection to nature, residents enjoy simple pleasures like outdoor activities and close-knit relationships. While amenities may be limited, the tranquility, traditions, and beauty of the area make it a rewarding place for those who value a simpler, nature-focused lifestyle.
With the variety of land throughout the town, the upkeep of land is a large priority. Many will raise animals like sheep or cows on their land to tame the grass. My family will have sheep on our land at the farmhouse and on Quarter Ranch we often have cows.
Here is a gallery of the sweet and gentle Icelandic sheep we helped feed and graze over the summer.
